I like PDF too. I find it better than HTML because of it's visual
appearance. I mentioned LaTeX just because it's a master-format that can be
rendered in many other end-formats.
Adam said "something that smells like XML". In this case, there's also
DocBook, which *is* an XML format. But if there's no need to export the
master-version in a gazillion of other formats, I would stick to LaTeX. The
fine thing about LyX though, is that you don't need to be concerned about
LaTeX programming.
By the way, a strong point for using LyX is that the PDF output will be
rendered using the "Computer Modern" font. Whee.... ;-)
